What is Rush Control?

Rush Control is a tool designed to bring order to some of that chaos we know as Book Rush. It will help you track shortages, measure fulfillment and streamline the rush process for each of your vital team members (Buyer, Receiver & Customer Service). Why Rush Control? Over the past decade an increase in competition has changed some of the dynamics of rush. Sell Through has always been an issue and stores always needed to cut orders to some degree but, competing with more and more internet retailers market share has dropped and deeper cuts may be in order. By cutting orders further stores risk an increase in customer alienating shortages. Overstock returns have always been a significant cost tracked by college stores but overstocks are only half of the problem. If you are to compete against the large internet retailers, you’ll need to start tracking fulfillment just as they do. You see, stores can easily eliminate returns by not stocking any books. The real challenge is to offer the highest level of customer service (i.e. fulfillment) and the lowest level of overstocks simultaneously. Tracking both problems will help college stores find their optimum stock level where they are offering the highest level of customer service at the lowest cost. Rush Control helps track shortages and gives an instant snapshot of how you are doing. At anytime during rush you’ll be able to qualify and report shortages by Publisher Delay, Bookstore Shortage, Bookstore Error, Professor Delay or Student Error.
  • Electronic entry of student requests during rush.
  • Generation of wantlists from student requests.
  • Allow receivers to track received books to automatically fulfill requests.
  • Automatically email students when their requests are fulfilled.
  • Generate Contact Lists based on outstanding requests and new inventory.
  • Visualize the quality of your service with easy to use reporting.

Who Should Use Rush Control?

Stores concerned about competition, service levels and/or operating costs should consider using Rush Control. This tool can also help you smooth relations with administrators: If your store has ever been accused of “never having enough books”, Rush Control will quickly and effortlessly show that not all shortages or late books are within the bookstore’s control. Rush Control will save your staff valuable time by tracking requests and shortages electronically and emailing students when books become available.
