Winter 2008 - Partnership with Nebraska Book Company Announced
Alloken has partnered with Nebraska Book Company
to deliver Shelf Control to Prism users.
Nebraska Book Company, in partnership with Alloken, LLC, today announces the release of a new product that provides college bookstores the power for automated shelf control with inventory management. Nebraska Book Company has enhanced its industry-leading PRISM software suites to include automated Shelf Control from Alloken.
PRISM comprehensive inventory and point-of-sale solutions currently support the successful operations of hundreds of bookstores. PRISM offers bar code scanning, complete inventory control and connections to financial accounting systems. The addition of Alloken's Shelf Control to the PRISM suites operating systems uses formulas to automatically determine the best placement of textbooks on store shelves. This complex process results in uniform layouts and makes finding books easier for customers. The combined systems also provide automatic adjustments for late faculty selection of textbooks.
"We are extremely pleased to offer the expanded services for PRISM suites customers," said Mike Kelly, Senior Vice President, Nebraska Book Company. "We have worked closely with Alloken for two years to develop the terrific potential the addition can bring to PRISM customers. We can now offer college and university bookstores the finest software to integrate and manage their complete store operations."

ALLOKEN LAUNCHES SELL-THRU BOOSTER
Sell-Thru Booster: A free web-based calculator designed to help you calculate lower prices while
maintaining your margin.
Sell-Thru Booster is a tool designed to help College Bookstores compete with internet retailers and
discounters. It is a two phase calculator that helps bookstores set realistic buyback prices on older
books and then, after wantlisting, set retail prices based on total acquisition costs rather than the
new book net. By using the total cost method of pricing, it is often possible to sell new books below
the publisher net. The idea is to use this price advantage as another marketing instrument to stem
the erosion of market share in the college store. Sell-Thru Booster rewards good textbook management.
The more efficient you are, (buyback, returns, etc) the lower you will be able to set prices on textbooks.
Try the Sell-Thru Booster for free.
NEGOTIATOR – THE NEXT SEASON
Alloken continues to talk with publishers in preparation for the next round of Negotiations. Negotiator is a web-base application designed to help bookstore and publishers find common
ground in promoting backlist books. Negotiator helps College Stores compete on quality, increases sales for
Publishers and provides students with a higher quality product at a lower price.
The power of Negotiator is derived from the level of participation on the part of Bookstores and Publishers.
The more Publishers that participate in the Negotiator service the greater the benefit to participating
Bookstores; likewise, the more Bookstores that participate, the greater the benefit to Publishers.
For this reason, we ask for your participation and patience as Negotiator builds itself to a level of
critical mass where the greatest benefit is had by all who participate. You may not see any benefit
on your first upload but your efforts will pay off in greater
publisher participation and a higher probability of negotiated offers in the future.
Negotiator needs
your help: Currently Alloken is looking for bookstores willing to help write upload instructions for
the most common inventory systems. At this time we have complete instructions for Prism users. If you
are using another textbook management system and would like to participate, please fill out
the form
- include your contact information and what textbook system is
in use at your bookstore.
